$GRAMMAR One and Ones
ID: 1b-f8-g
INTRO: One small word saves a lot of repeating. Here's how "one" and "ones" work before you drill them.
When you've already named a thing, you don't have to say the noun again. Use **one** for a singular noun and **ones** for a plural noun:
- {Joan wore a coat; Mary wore one too.} — "one" = a coat
- {I like long dresses.} → {I like long ones too.} — "ones" = dresses
- {We don't have a red one; we have an orange one.} — "one" = a hat
The size or color word stays; only the noun disappears.
