(1) Hello. Open your Language Laboratory Activities booklet to Lesson 2D. (pause 6 sec)

(2) Look at Figure 1. Look at the pictures and repeat these sentences. (pause for repetition)

Picture A: price...price What's the price of these apples? What's the price of these apples?

Picture B: than...than One pencil is longer than the other pencil. One pencil is longer than the other pencil.

Picture C: more...more I'd like more coffee, please. I'd like more coffee, please.

(3) Look at Figure 2. Listen to the questions. Circle the correct answers. Let's do the example together. Look at the two pictures and answer this question. Who has the shorter pencil? (pause 4 sec) B is the correct answer. The girl has the shorter pencil.

(4) Now listen to a question, look at the two pictures, and circle the correct answer, A or B. (pause 5 sec after each question)

Number 1: Who has the larger box?

Number 2: Who has the smaller box?

Number 3: Where is the bigger triangle?

Number 4: Where is the smaller ball?

Number 5: Who has the longer table?

(5) Now check your answers. (pause for repetition)

Number 1 is A. Who has the larger box? Repeat: The boy has the larger box.

(6) Now look at Figure 3. Look at Picture 1 and listen to a dialog. Don't repeat.

Now repeat the dialog. (pause for repetition)

Look at Picture 2 and listen to the dialog. Don't repeat.

(10) Now look at Figure 5. You will hear a question and a dialog. Listen to the dialog. Don't repeat, just listen. After you hear the dialog, answer question Number 1.

Here's the question: How many different shapes do they say in the dialog? Now listen.

(2 voices)

voice 1: Today we studied different shapes in class. voice 2: What shapes did you study? voice 1: We drew circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. voice 2: We'll study shapes next week. voice 1: Well, I have to go. I have to do my homework. voice 2: I do, too. See you tomorrow.

(11) Now write the answer to question Number 1 in Figure 5. How many different shapes do they say in the dialog? (pause 5 sec)

(12) Let's check your answer. The answer is four shapes. Listen to the dialog again.

voice 1: Today we studied different shapes in class. voice 2: What shapes did you study? voice 1: We drew circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. voice 2: We'll study shapes next week. voice 1: Well, I have to go. I have to do my homework. voice 2: I do, too. See you tomorrow.

(13) Listen to another dialog. Then answer question Number 2.

Here's the question: Which apples did they buy? Now listen to the dialog.

voice 1: What is the price of these apples? voice 2: Those are 49 cents a pound. voice 1: How much are these larger ones? voice 2: They're 79 cents a pound. voice 1: They cost more money, but they look good. Let's buy a pound of the larger ones.

(14) Now write the answer to question Number 2 in Figure 5. Which apples did they buy? (pause 15 sec)

(15) Let's check your answer. The answer is the larger ones. They bought the larger apples. Listen to the dialog again.

voice 1: What is the price of these apples? voice 2: Those are 49 cents a pound. voice 1: How much are these larger ones? voice 2: They're 79 cents a pound. voice 1: They cost more money, but they look good. Let's buy a pound of the larger ones.

(16) Look at Figure 6. Listen to the paragraph. Don't write. Just listen.

(17) Now write the paragraph again. Put in the correct punctuation. (pause 2 min)
