Two weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Clark bought a house. The house is white with a red roof. It has seven rooms and a garage for the car.

The house has a big yard. The front yard has flowers, grass and a tree. The other tree is near the front of the house.

The backyard is inside the fence. The fence has a gate near the back door of the house. The trees in the back are taller than the roof.

It is summer now. The trees have leaves, and the grass is green. In the winter, the grass will be brown. There won't be any leaves on the trees or any flowers in the yard.

Reading Skill

CAN YOU FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS?

Read and follow the instructions.

  1. Go to the chalkboard. Write your name on the chalkboard. Write the name of your country below your name. Say your name and the name of your country.

  2. Get a pencil and a piece of paper. Write your name at the top of the paper. Draw a large triangle in the center of the paper. Give the paper to the teacher.

  3. Go to the chalkboard. Write any number smaller than ten (10). Multiply that number by two (2). Tell the class the answer.

  4. Turn to the last page of your textbook. Write today's date at the top of the page. Write your name at the bottom of this page. Show the page to the teacher.

  5. Go to the front of the classroom. Ask a student the name of his country. Ask him the spelling of his country's name. Write the name of his country on the chalkboard.

  6. Ask the teacher for a piece of paper. Write any number larger than ten (10) and smaller than one hundred (100). Subtract ten (10) from that number and write the answer. Return the paper to the teacher.

  7. Draw a small circle on the chalkboard. Draw its radius. Draw a larger circle beside the small circle. Draw the diameter of the larger circle.

  8. Open your book to the homework pages for today's lesson. Count the number of pages. Tell the class the number of pages for today's homework.

  9. Ask the teacher for a piece of chalk. Draw a square on the chalkboard. Draw a circle around the square. Write square and circle on the chalkboard.

  10. Take a piece of paper from your notebook. Draw a curved line on the paper. Draw a straight line next to the curved line. Show the paper to the student next to you.

The superlative form of the adjective is used to compare three or more persons, or things. Add the + est to one-syllable adjectives and to some two-syllable adjectives.

Maria's home is in California. She goes to school in New York. She likes her classes and has a lot of friends, but she isn't happy at school. She wants to see her family. She calls them every Saturday morning and talks to them for an hour. She will go back home for a vacation in the summer. Every day she looks at the calendar and thinks about her summer vacation.
