Rudy and Fred are roommates. They are also good friends. Their friendship began in high school and now they're in college. They care about their friendship. When one of them has a problem, the other one always listens and gives advice.
Last week, Fred and Rudy were angry with each other. Fred did not keep a secret for Rudy. Fred did not realize it was a secret. When they talked about the problem, Fred understood why Rudy was angry. Fred apologized to Rudy. Everything is okay now.

(1) Hello! Open your books to the activities for Lesson 3D. (pause 5 sec)
(2) Go to Figure 1. Look at the words and ask a question like the example. Let's do the example: The words are "they, do homework, and last night." Repeat the question: How did they do their homework last night?
Look at the words and make a question. (pause after the number for 4 sec; and for student to repeat correct answer)

Number 1: My friend Barbara doesn't feel well. She didn't feel well yesterday. She has a headache and a high temperature. What should she do?
(pause 15 sec for student to read choices and make a selection)
Number 2: I had to call Dora last night, but I forgot. When she didn't talk to me this morning, I realized that I hurt her feelings. What should I do?
Number 3: Edward is my good friend, and he's also my roommate. The problem is that Edward smokes a lot. I don't want to hurt his feelings. I don't say anything, but his smoke bothers me.
Number 4: My friend Sara is out of town. She will be away for one month. She left her car with me and told me I could drive it. Yesterday, I went to the store and I had an accident. What should I do?
Number 5: I lent Roger $50.00 last month. He said that he would pay me last week, but he didn't pay me. I know he has the money. What should I do?
(5) Now listen to the situations again. Check your answers and repeat the correct responses. (pause for repetition)

(6) Now go to Figure 4. Read the paragraph silently as it is read for you. Then answer my questions.

(8) Go to Figure 5. Now listen to a paragraph and write it. The first time listen only.
John had an automobile accident yesterday. He stopped for a red light. A car came from behind and hit him. John had his seat belt on, and he was not hurt. The other driver was at fault. He got a ticket. His insurance must pay to fix John's car. John won't have a car for a few days, but his wife will take him to work every day.
(9) Now listen to it again in smaller parts and write. (pause at / 5 sec per word or 10-20 sec at / 's)
