(1) Hello. Open your book to the activities for Lesson 3B. (pause 6 sec)
(2) Look at Figure 1. Listen and repeat the connectives in the box.

(3) Listen to paragraph number 1 and look at the box. Listen for the words in the box. These words are connective words. (read at normal speed)
Mike needed to fix his bicycle. First, he inflated the back tire. There wasn't enough air in it. He fixed the handlebars second. They were high, and they were loose. He lowered them, and then he tightened them. He fixed the seat last. He raised it because it was low for him.
(4) Listen to paragraph number 1 again. When you hear the words in the box, write them on the blank lines in Figure 1.

Before Bob goes on a trip in his car, he always stops at a gas station. First, he puts gas in the car and cleans the windows. After he pays for the gas, Bob checks the tires. He looks at the tires on the car and then opens the trunk and checks the spare tire. Next, he looks for the jack and lug wrench. He checks the nuts and wheel covers last and tightens any loose ones. Finally, he's ready to leave.
(7) Listen to paragraph number 2 again. This time, write the connective words when you hear them. (read slightly slower)

He carefully put his money in the machine and pushed the button, but nothing happened. He pushed the coin return, and again nothing happened. John couldn't get his money or his diet soda.
(22) Listen to the paragraph again. Then write the main idea in a complete sentence.
