(1) Hello. Open your Language Laboratory Activities booklet to Lesson 3B. (pause 6 sec)

(2) Look at Figure 1. Listen and repeat some words and sentences. Look at picture A. (pause for repetition)

Picture A: hose...hose Look at the hoses. These are two kinds of hoses.

Picture B: leak...leak Uncle George has a leak in his kitchen faucet.

Picture C: exchange...exchange Jim is going to exchange that sweater for two shirts.

Picture D: refund...refund Sgt Jackson asked the salesman for a refund.

Picture E: give back...give back Charlie won't give the car back to Jimmy.

Picture F: credit...credit Mrs. Brooks bought her refrigerator on credit.

Picture G: service...service That new restaurant gives excellent service.

Picture H: grease...grease The mechanic has grease on his shirt.

Picture I: satisfied...satisfied Mr. Evans was very satisfied with your work.

(3) Now listen to some sentences. Each sentence describes a picture in Figure 1. Match the sentence to the picture. Write the number of the sentence under the picture. You will hear each sentence twice.

(6) Now look at Figure 3. Read the phrases now. (pause 15 sec) Now listen to part of a sentence and choose the phrase that completes it. Write the number on the blank line. You'll hear each part twice.

(7) Let's do number 1 as an example. Listen.

Number 1: Neil went to the bank.... Neil went to the bank.... Put a number 1 next to the letter c. "to deposit his check." completes the sentence.

(8) Now listen and complete the sentence. (pause 10 sec after each item)
