The nurse at the school took everyone's temperature.
She gave the students thermometers and told them to hold the thermometers under their tongues for a few minutes.
Then she took the thermometers and looked at them.
Maria's thermometer said 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, or 37 degrees Celsius.
That temperature is allright.
Someone with a temperature higher than 98.6 has a fever.
Look at Maria's thermometer.
What is her temperature?
It's 98.6.
Does she have a fever?
No, she doesn't.
Repeat: Maria doesn't have a fever.
Now listen and look at the other thermometers.
When you hear a student's temperature, write it on his or her thermometer.
When the nurse looked at the other thermometers, this is what she learned:
Steve had a temperature of 100 degrees.
Alan's temperature was 98.2 degrees.
Sally's temperature was 99.5.
David had a temperature of 103 degrees.
Listen again and check the temperatures.
Steve had a temperature of 100 degrees.
Alan's temperature was 98.2 degrees.

David had a temperature of 103 degrees.
Which students had fevers?
Put a check beside their names.
Three students had fevers.
They were Steve, Sally, and David.
Now look at the thermometers and answer these questions.

Repeat: David's fever was the highest.
Who had the lowest temperature?
Repeat: Alan had the lowest temperature.
What was the highest temperature?
Repeat: The highest temperature was 103.
What was Steve's temperature?
Repeat: Steve's temperature was 100 degrees.
What was Sally's temperature?
Repeat: Sally's temperature was 99.5.
